Lines, Lines and More Lines!

It was great to see students in orange today in recognition of Orange Shirt Day.

We are continuing to talk about lines in Kindergarten.  This pre-writing skill was practiced today through a game.  Students rolled 2 line dice with a partner and drew them on a whiteboard.  The goal today was to try and connect 2 different types of lines.  Some of the combinations were challenging!

Orange Shirt Day on Monday

The AM class participated in the Terry Fox run today!  They did a wonderful job despite the wet weather and the snow.  We can't wait to do our own run with the PM class next week!

Just a reminder that Orange Shirt Day is on Monday.  Please send your child in an orange shirt if they have one.  If you are unsure what Orange Shirt Day is, please read more here.

Terry Fox Run and Toonies for Terry

Just a reminder that the AM Kindergarten class will be participating in the school wide Terry Fox run tomorrow.  It looks like it'll be a cold day so please dress your child appropriately.

The PM Kindergarten class will take part in our Kindergarten Terry Fox run on a warmer day next week.

Please bring in "Toonies for Terry" to add to our classroom shoe in support of cancer research!  Thank you to those of you who have already contributed!  :)

Winter is Coming...

We have just started celebrating the season of fall and hopefully the snow stays away!

Just a reminder that we do go outside everyday with our classes. Being active outdoors is an important part of our learning. Please send your child with appropriate outdoor clothing for our unpredictable Calgary weather!

This Friday, our AM class will be in school. It is our annual Terry Fox Run! There will also be a muffin breakfast, hosted by our School Council, in the morning before school begins! Check out the Hawkwood School website for more information!

Today marked the first day of Fall and with it came a whole bunch of new Fall centres to introduce to the students.  Please talk with your child to see which one was their favourite and why!

Meet Mat Man

Today students met Mat Man!  Mat Man teaches readiness skills such as body awareness, pre-writing, sequencing and counting.  After putting Mat Man together and singing his song, students worked on drawing a picture of themselves.  Here are some of our little learners hard at work!

Fire Drill Kindergarten Practise

Kindergarten students might be coming home talking about a fire drill today.  There wasn't an official school wide drill but we practiced on our own so that students know what to do when we have our first drill in the coming weeks.  They did great!!

Update:
Our PM Kindergarten class actually DID get to experience a school wide fire drill at the end of the day!
