Shark Week!

Students have been having a great time exploring our map and looking at all the places that sharks live!

Guided drawing lessons really increase student confidence!

Our new letter this week is K

Clay for Kids came during Shark Week.  Students worked on an ocean project that had them recall and create their favourite ocean animals.  A huge thank you to our parent volunteers for helping out with this project.  We couldn't have done it without you!!

Last Week Recap

We accomplished a lot during our first week back at school!

We shared stories about our winter break and then had an opportunity to do some writing and drawing.

Our new letter was V.  You may have heard a song called Vic's Van being sung at home!  :)

We created our class alphabet and number line.  It was sticky work but students persevered and it looks great hanging up in our classroom as a visual reference!

Our new focus coming back from the break is the ocean!  Students are welcome to bring in ocean related toys, artifacts and oral stories to share at the end of each day.

AM Kindergarten worked on making hermit crabs and their habitat based on Eric Carle's House for Hermit Crab.

Thank you for your patience as we figure out our new library schedule!  It's been a bit tricky to align the Kindergarten schedule with the rest of the school.  In order to accommodate our librarian's schedule, we will now be splitting students into 2 groups with each group going on their own day.  Please see the schedule below.

Happy New Year!

We hope everyone had a wonderful winter break!

Updates and Information:

Clay for Kids
- Next week we are excited to welcome Clay for Kids into our classroom to do an art project with us.  We are looking for 4 volunteers for each class to come in on Tuesday, January 14.

AM class - 9:30-11:30
PM class - 1:00-3:00

You must have your police volunteer clearance completed and approved in order to come in to help.  Please email us if you are interested and we will email you with a confirmation.  First come, first served!  :)

Report Card Envelopes
- If you haven't already done so, please send back your child's report card envelope.  We use these again in June!

Library Bags
- Please ensure that your child brings their library book back in a bag.  If you have lost the original bag, any bag with their name on it will be fine.  It makes it much easier for us to figure out who has returned their books.

Library Schedule
- We are updating our library schedule so that students will have more opportunities to exchange their books.  This is great news but unfortunately you'll have to remember more dates!  :) The schedule will be based on our school's 6 day rotation.

The AM classes library days will be Days 1 and Day 4.
The PM classes library days will be Days 2 and 5.

We are attaching a "day" schedule for your records.  Please use this to determine when your child's next library day will be. Library is approximately every 3 days. This new schedule will begin on:

AM Class - Monday, January 13 Day 4
PM Class - Monday, January 20 Day 2
